Sump Filter

Description: A sump filter is an external filtration system connected to the main aquarium. It typically consists of a separate tank or chamber (the sump) that houses additional filter media, equipment, and water.

Functions: The sump filter enhances overall filtration capacity by providing additional space for filter media, such as mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration components. Water from the main tank is overflowed or pumped into the sump, where it undergoes various filtration stages before returning to the main tank.

Advantages: Sump filters allow for greater customization of filtration setups, increase water volume, and provide a cleaner aesthetic in the main tank by concealing equipment.
