Emersed Plants

Definition: Emersed plants are those that grow both above and below the waterline. They can be partially or fully submerged in the aquarium.

Function in the Aquarium: Emersed plants are versatile aquatic plants that can adapt to different conditions. When partially submerged, they often have leaves above the water surface and roots below. Some aquarium enthusiasts use emersed growth to cultivate plants before fully submerging them, allowing for better root development and acclimation to underwater conditions.
